Hello all,

As you likely anticipated, I’m writing to let you know that state officials have cancelled all rallies and large group gatherings at the Capitol for at least the next three weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sadly, this means that our physical rally is cancelled, and we want to keep you safe from the virus.

But, our fight for the Fair Maps Amendment must continue. It’s now more critical than ever that we have your help and support.

We are asking that you help us “rally in place” on March 26th. Please, please enlist your family, friends and neighbors to do the same. We need you to call and send emails that day, or all that week, to your state representative and state senator, the Governor’s office, the Speaker’s Office and the Senate President’s Office.

Many lawmakers now force constituents to use a contact form and do not provide email. Please do that if yours is one of them.

For the Fair Maps Amendment to appear on the ballot for the Nov. 3rd General Election, the Illinois General Assembly must vote to put it there by May 3rd, 2020. This is enshrined in the Illinois Constitution. 

In addition to calling and emailing these officials on March 26th, please also join us and enlist your family, neighbors and friends to call for votes and call out elected state officials over social media.

One more ask: Would you please hit reply to let us know your mailing address and phone number so that we can consider sending you some postcards to fill out and mail to lawmakers? We are going to explore the cost of mailing you your t shirt, too, and we’d really like to be able to get in touch with you for other urgent developments should we need to. I promise we won’t pester you.

The virus pandemic will pass, but if Fair Maps doesn’t pass, we will have skewed districts and undemocratic government for the next ten years. It’s time we rise together and demand a government that represents all of us!
